Legislation

South Dakota Association of County Officials represents South Dakota’s county governments before the South Dakota  Legislature. Legislative representation is a continuing process which involves researching and drafting original legislation on behalf of the counties, monitoring legislation affecting counties and providing information to county officials concerning various legislative activities. SDACO’s Legislative Package is developed by the SDACO membership and ultimately adopted by the full body at the SDACO annual conference in September.  County officials are strongly encouraged to provide SDACO with their recommendations concerning legislation.
